Company Profile

Simon-Duplex Truck Division

At the time of employment Simon-Duplex was a leading designer, engineer and manufacturer of custom truck chassis’ for niche on/off highway transportation markets. Duplex chassis’ were utilized by public utility companies and private contractors as the mode of transportation for insulator washers, digger derricks and line tensioners and in such specialized public and private vocations as crane carriers, aerial work platforms, ready mix units and utilized by municipalities as the mode of transportation for firefighting apparatus, such as pumpers, crash fire rescue vehicles, and aerial devices.


Simon-Duplex operated from a 45,000 square foot facility, employing approximately 100 workers, and generated $20-25 million in annual revenues. Simon-Duplex was a business unit of Simon, PLC, a global conglomerate generating more than $7 billion in annual revenues. 


In 1997 Simon-Duplex was sold to the Freightliner Corporation and merged into its American LaFrance operations.
